ÖZKESER was born in Istanbul, and graduated from Gazi University, Department of Primary Mathematics Education. She worked as a teacher of the Ministry of Education. She later graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Economics, Department of Economics; Faculty of Theology, and Istanbul University, Department of History. She is currently studying at Anadolu University, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, and Atatürk University, Department of New Media and Journalism. She started her calligraphy training in 2008 in Ankara by taking thuluth courses from her teacher Kadir Sakoğlu. She took thuluth courses from Faruk Özoğul for one year; and from Prof. Dr. Mehmet Memiş for two years. Between 2008 and 2010, she took miniature courses from her teacher Nurten Ünver at the Ministry of Culture and received her certificate. Starting in 2011, she learned taliq script from her teacher Tahsin Kurt; and nesih and thuluth script from her teacher Davud Bektaş at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University. She took history of calligraphy lessons from Muhiddin Serin for three semesters, and graduated from Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Traditional Turkish Arts, Calligraphy and Book binding Department. She completed her master’s thesis on Embroidered Book Covers at the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, Book Binding at Mimar Sinan University. In 2013, she took bookbinding courses from Islam Seçen and Betül Oral for a year at ISMEK, and continued to take those courses from Islam Seçen and Melike Kazaz after entering Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University. She took “Illumination Design” and “Flowers in Naturalist Style” courses from Prof. Faruk Taşkale, and “Illumination Figuration” course from Dr. Turgat Korun at Mimar Sinan University, Department of Traditional Turkish Arts. She continues to take the following courses: “Book binding” from Gürcan Mavili, “Diwani Script” from Dr. Ali Rıza Özcan, “Kufic Script” from Dr. Berrin Yapar Ünal and “Makıli Script” from Dr. Pınar Doğu. She has been doing oil painting for twenty years in her workshop with the painter Tülay Sokullu. Özkeser has participated in various oil painting and patchwork group exhibitions in Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum. She received the “Artist Identity Card” for book binding and patchwork from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a traditional handicrafts artist. After receiving three years of training from calligrapher Erhan Olcay, she received a certificate in the “formal italic” category from “CLASS London England”. She is currently working as an artist.
