Vatan was born in 1977 in the Germencik district of Aydın. He resigned from his twenty-five-year-long profession as a laboratory technician in 2023 and focused on the art of wood carving, which he had been doing as a hobby since 2007. Vatan participated in festivals in different cities together with Anadolu El Sanatlarını Yaşatma ve Geliştirme Derneği (ANELSANDER) (Association for the Survival and Development of Anatolian Handicrafts), of which he has been a member for five years, and opened three solo exhibitions. Vatan, who also works on jewellery making, was given the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage Bearer by the General Directorate of Living Heritage and Cultural Activities of Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2023. Vatan continues to produce artworks in his workshop in the historical Kutu Han in Tire, Izmir.
