Born in 1974, Yaylak received an associate degree in cinematography and photography. Between 2017 and 2023, Yaylak participated in calligrapher Mahmud Şahin’s calligraphy workshops at Kütahya Vahid Paşa Yazma Eserler Kütüphanesi (Kütahya Vahid Pasha Manuscript Library) and improved his skills in crafts such as marbling, illumination, muraqqa and calligraphy on plates. In 2018, with the guidance and support of his teacher Şahin, Yaylak stepped into the craft of bookbinding and established a bookbinding workshop in the field of classical Turkish and Islamic book arts. Yaylak gave theoretical and practical trainings on bookbinding in Kütahya Vahid Pasha Manuscript Library workshop in 2019, contributes to culture and art projects in Kütahya Culture and Art Association and works as a project coordinator. Yaylak, who is a collector of book covers and cover presses, also does the maintenance and repair works of the book covers in his own workshop at his home. He continues to work on classical books’ binding techniques. Yaylak is married and has two children.
