Ayşegül Ayla was born in Istanbul in 1957. She started her illumination studies at the courses opened by Yapı Kredi Bank in 1984, and continued her studies at Topkapı Palace Museum Emobridery House between 1994-1996. Ayla has been studying at Sema Ebroidery House founded by Semih İrteş and Mamure Öz and at Üsküdar Nurbanu Valide Atik Sultan Mosque Complex since 1996. She took kalem işi classes from Semih İrteş for two years, and has been giving illumination classes at various institutions. Ayla, who participated in many group exhibitions, won third prize with her work titled “The Fellowship of the Lands and the Heavens” in the Masters of the Future Competition organized in 2015.
