Sevim Kara was born on February 27, 1964, in Süleymanpaşa, Tekirdağ, Turkey. She graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Theology, and worked as a teacher for 25 years. Kara began her training in tezhip (traditional Turkish illumination) under Firdevs Cebeci and studied miniature art with Gonca Küçüksaraç. In Tekirdağ, she trained in ceramics with Ömür Canpolat for three years and continued her tezhip studies with İlknur Eriz for five years. She is currently advancing her tezhip education under Veysel Seyhan. Continuing her artistic career in Tekirdağ, Kara works in her own studio located at Atatürk Mahallesi, 263. Sokak No:6/12. She has participated in various national events and group exhibitions, including the SAMEK Traditional Arts Year-End Exhibition (2014) and the Sakarya Erenler HEM AFA İlk Cultural Center Elmas OTE Exhibition (2014).
