Born in Izmir in 1985, Susamcıoğlu completed her secondary education in Tire. Afertwards, her interest in jewellery design, Trabzon hasırı (a special type of jewellery design out of gold) and handicrafts grew, and she received basket weaving training from traditional handicraft masters in Tire. In 2021 Susamcıoğlu started working as a basketry master at Tire Municipality City Museum, and contributed to the promotion of traditional basketry by participating in many international fairs and national exhibitions. She blends traditional basket weaving with modern needs by making baskets made of vitex, giant reed and bamboo, carries out studies and trains apprentices in order to carry this art to future generations in the right way.
