Born in 1985 in Izmir, Tokatlı has been playing ney for almost 30 years- since he was 8 years old.

Tokatlı, who has been making ney and giving ney courses in Izmir Kemeraltı for fourteen years, also performs as a ney player in various concerts. In addition to playing the ney, Tokatlı also plays the qanun.
