Born in Izmir in 1986, Akın graduated from Ege University, Department of Philosophy and Anadolu University, Department of Photography and Videography. She holds a master’s degree from Anadolu University, Department of Visual Communication Design. In 2013, she participated in the “Design Table” in Istanbul with her artworks selected by Buryos Fine Arts. In 2016, she took part in the Guinness Record attempt organized by marbling artists in Prague, and in the 3rd International Workshop for the Promotion of Turkish Culture and Arts. In 2017, she joined the 4th International Izmir Art Biennial, the 2nd International Friouato/Morocco Art Biennial, and in the 6th World Marbling Day Dubai events. Two years later, she took part in Artantakya International Contemporary Art in Antakya. Akın, who took part in the exhibition within the scope of the 5th International Workshop for the Promotion of Turkish Culture and Arts held in Georgia in 2018, opened an exhibition in Izmir with African artist Isham Delberg in the same year and launched the “Two Countries - Two Artists Project”. Akın participated in international group exhibitions in Izmir, Istanbul, Varna, Tokyo, Paris, Chios, Rome and Smolyan, and was awarded the Hero Award at the 2nd International Friouato/Morocco Art Biennial in 2017, the honorary award at the Morocco International Masters Classes Exhibition in 2018, and the Venice Biennale award at the Accademia Santa Sara in Italy in 2019; in the same year she was accepted to The Artling online gallery, which brings together the most important artists of Asia. In 2017, Akın was a member of the celebration and promotion committee in Izmir for the anniversary of the selection of the art of marbling as a cultural heritage by UNESCO. In 2019, she was invited to and started working with the Italy Art Gallery. The Italian art critic Flavio De Gregorio wrote an article about her art. Akın, who received art therapy training from Istanbul University in 2022, designs products on which her paintings and marblings are printed, works as a designer on various websites, makes presentations on the philosophy of art at various university congresses, and organizes events with university communities. The artist both teaches and continues to work at the studio called Utopia Science/Art Consultancy, which she founded in Izmir in 2012.
