Erol Çağlar was born in Istanbul Nişantaşı in 1973. He is a graduate of Marmara University Faculty of Science and Letters Department of History. He did his graduate studies at Istanbul University Contemporary Ottoman History Department. Çağlar started working on traditional Turkish handicrafts by studying khatt. He studied ruq’ah with Khattat Efdaluddin Kılıç for two years. Çağlar started taking marbling classes from Ayla Makas at Caferağa Madrassah and continued with İsmail Dündar at Eyüp Cafer Paşa Madrassah, he had the opportunity of exhibiting his first works at the same madrassah. Çağlar received his license in 2005 from İsmail Dündar at the exhibition opening at the Certified Public Accountants’ Office Art Gallery in Istanbul Beyoğlu.
