Selim Türkoğlu was born in Erzincan in 1960. He started studying khatt with Khattat Ali Rüştü in 1987, continued his studies with Ali Selçuk Erkut and received his thuluth and naskh licenses in 1990. Türkoğlu attended Ali Alparslan’s ta’liq courses at Süleymaniye Library. He opened his personal workshop in Fatih in 1990, and moved it to Sultanahmet in 2004. He won an award in khatt branch from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; has an Artist Presentation Card given by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; and is a member of Turkey Fine Artwork Owners’ Professional Association (GESAM). Türkoğlu held more than twenty personal exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad, gave conferences about khatt. His articles were published in various newspapers and magazines. He published a book titled “Spiritual Geometry” (Ruhi Hendese).
