Günseli Kato was born in Istanbul in 1956. She graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Education Painting Department in 1980. Her art life began when she joined Prof. Süheyl Ünver with the miniature studies he was making at Topkapı Palace Musem in 1974. She met with Islamic Ceramic Art Expert Takuo Kato in 1985 and participated in ceramics workshops at his workshop. Over time, she held many exhibitions, gave conferences and seminars all over the world. After seventeen years of work in art, Kato opened a miniature school with her own name in Tokyo.
