Esra Omurzak was born in Istanbul in 1988. She began her education in the art of illumination (Tezhip) in 2010 under the guidance of master illuminator Hanifi Dursun, and continued her training between 2010 and 2015. She later passed the entrance examination and studied for three years at the Üsküdar Turkish-Islamic Arts Training Center with Hakan Dağlı. Omurzak has participated in numerous exhibitions with her works and held a solo exhibition in Cyprus. In 2016, she received an award in the “Masters of the Future” Competition. She currently continues her artistic practice in her own studio in Istanbul.
