Saliha Çığ was born in Istanbul in 1980. She gave classes at Fatih Municipality Vocational Training Courses in the 1999-2000 school year; took tile classes from Levent Kum in 2005, and from Özkan Tokaç between 2006-2008. Çığ did her internship at Yıldız Porcelain Factory in 2006, and worked as the culture-art editor of Mavi Haliç Youth and Culture Magazine between 2007-2010. She started taking illumination classes from Mamure Öz in 2004 at the Classical Turkish Arts Center at Yıldız Palace Şale Kiosk and continued her studies with Esra Elitaş after 2005. Çığ, who took classes from Emel Türkmen, has been continuing her illumination training at Hüseyin-Emel Türkmen Art House for ten years, and still illuminates her graduation hilya. She won second prize in tile branch in the branch competitions themed “Istanbul” organized by İSMEK in 2008 and 2009, and third prize in 2011. Her illumination work she sent to Dubai Emirate in 2011 was accepted into the private collection of the Emirate.
