Çağrı Yılmaz was born in Ankara in 1980. He is a graduate of Middle East Technical University Department of Philosophy in 2002. Yılmaz received puppet making and puppeteering techniques training at Prague Kidnappa Puppet School between 1999-2001. He attended Tadashi Endo’s butoh classes at Gottingen Mamu Dance Centrum. Yılmaz, who is the founder of Ahşap Çerçeve (means ‘wooden frame’) Puppet Theatre, has been regularly organizing workshops to introduce puppet theatre to wider audiences. He also makes designs for state theatres, private theatres and TV productions. Yılmaz’s translation of Jayadeva Tilakasiri’s ‘Asian Puppet Theatre’ was published by Mitos Boyut.
