Özgül, who graduated from Ankara University Department of Religious Education in 2010, received his ijazah in 2017 from calligrapher Mahmut Şahin, with whom he began studying thuluth and naskh in 2012. Özgül began teaching calligraphy in Denizli in 2018, participated in various exhibitions, and undertook the curation of some exhibitions. His artworks can be found in some museums, mosques and many collections. Özgül, who also continued to work in the taliq script with his teacher Şahin, from whom he also received his ijazah, has been working at the Bin Sanat Galerisi and Sanat Merkezi (Bin Art Gallery and Art Centre), which he co-founded, since 2021 and has been teaching religion at schools.
