Şengül Türk İri was born on February 10, 1978, in the Milas district of Muğla, Turkey. In order to develop her interest in traditional handicrafts at an academic level, she graduated with an associate degree in Traditional Handicrafts from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Milas Vocational School, in 2020. She works in the fields of carpet, kilim, and weaving arts and has served as a master instructor. She worked at the Muğla Olgunlaşma Institute for four years, where she provided training in Milas carpet weaving, and has since concluded her position there. She studied under Hüseyin Ergün and trained Hatice Selçuk during her artistic and professional development. She currently continues her production and educational activities in her own workshop located in Milas and is also actively involved with the Ada Milas Cooperative. Between 2021 and 2024, she participated in exhibitions and events organized by the Olgunlaşma Institute. Married and a mother of two, Türk İri continues her work in Milas and its surroundings with the aim of preserving and transmitting traditional carpet, kilim, and weaving arts to future generations.
