Born in 1967 in Diyarbakır, Erdem graduated from Anadolu University Open Education Faculty (AÖF) Public Administration Department in 2003, Dokuz Eylül University Izmir Vocational School Jewellery and Jewellery Design Associate Degree Program in 2011, and Open Education Faculty Business Administration Department in 2017, and received pedagogical formation training in 2024. Erdem, who has been a master instructor in various workshops, public education centres, and vocational institutes since 2006, has participated in many festivals, exhibitions, celebrations, fairs, and workshops. In 2021, Erdem was part of a digital book project by Kültürel Araştırmalar Vakfı, titled Benim Sanat Hikâyem, which featured 40 traditional handicraft artists living in Izmir. She was awarded the Intangible Cultural Heritage Bearer Artist Introduction Card in the field of kazaziye and filigree by the General Directorate of Research and Education of Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2018. The artist is married and has two children.
