Fatma Kesgün was born in Denizli. She graduated from Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Architecture in 1987. Kesgün received her illumination license from Gülbün Mesara, Jale Yavuz and İlhan Gökşen at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical History and Deontology Department Prof. Düheyl Ünver Workshop. She took miniature classes from Nusret Çolpan at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical History and Deontology Department. Kesgün participated in many miniature and illumination group exhibitions and her works were featured in exhibition catalogues and publications. In 2003, she received jewelry making and design training at Artemis Sculpture Casting Workshop and participated in jewelry and sculpture exhibitions. Kesgün, who is one of the founders of MimSanat Academy opened in 2011, works as a manager at this institution and gives classes on classical Turkish arts and classical Turkish music. She continues her miniature studies with Nilgün Gencer.
