Gülnihal Alakuş was born in Istanbul in 1989. She started taking illumination classes in 2007 and continued her training with Gülnihal Küpeli and Orhan Dağlı. Alakuş took plant painting classes from Hülya Korkmaz and water color classes from Işıl Özışık. She took miniature classes from Dilek Yerlikaya in 2012, and from Taner Alakuş and Raif Aydın at the Classical Turkish Arts Center at Yıldız Palace Şale Kiosk in 2013-2014. Alakuş, who has been continuing her training at Taner Alakuş Miniature Workshop since 2014, won third prize in miniature branch with her work titled “Zamane” (means ‘contemporary’) in the İSMEK Art Competitions. She participated in many group exhibitions.
