Ali Odabaş was born in 1969 in Karakılıç Village, Karaisalı, Adana. His childhood was shaped by traditional weaving practices such as working with the loom (ıstar) and spinning yarn (çulfalık). He graduated from Adana Central Vocational High School in Textile Weaving and completed his degree in Weaving Education at Marmara University, Faculty of Technical Education, in 1994. He began teaching the same year and currently serves as the Head of the Textile Technology Department at Istanbul Textile Vocational High School. He worked as a weaving consultant in the BAP project titled “From Tradition to Future: The Art of Weaving.” In 2014, he participated in the "Nish Weaving" event. Odabaş has trained many students in the field of textile arts and continues his work in his personal workshop.
