Ayten Hızır was born in Rize in 1973. She is a graduate of Süleyman Demirel University Fine Arts Faculty Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Illumination Department. Hızır worked as a master instructor in illumination branch in 1999-2000, and worked as a painting and crafts teacher in private schools in the later years. She received her marbling license in 2011. Her work titled “The Sorrowful Tulip” was deemed worthy of exhibition in the 15^th State Turkish Decorative Arts Marbling Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2009. She participated in many national and international group exhibitions, festivals. Hızır has been studying Ottoman Turkish, khatt and marbling with M. Fuat Başar for over nine years. She also serves as Başar’s assistant and continues working on her art book. Hızır, who has a Ministry of Culture and Tourism Artist Presentation Card in marbling branch, still gives marbling courses at İSMEK.
