Born in 1973, Nebahat Türkyılmaz is a certified (ijazah-holding) artist working in the field of Traditional Turkish Marbling Art (Ebru). Originally trained as an engineer, Türkyılmaz transformed her long-standing interest in art into a focused practice in ebru in 2007 and has since pursued in-depth studies in this discipline. She received her ebru training from Serkan İlden and Derya Gezer, continuing her work within a classical and traditional framework. The artist has participated in numerous group exhibitions both nationally and has conducted ebru workshops at festivals and museums, offering hands-on activities for diverse age groups. Committed to preserving and promoting traditional arts, Türkyılmaz delivers workshops and seminars on ebru art in various schools. In addition to ebru, she is engaged in bookbinding, illumination (tezhip), miniature painting, papermaking, and calligraphy. Adopting an interdisciplinary perspective, she develops a holistic approach to traditional arts. By combining a strong adherence to tradition with contemporary sensibility in her works, the artist aims to contribute to the transmission of ebru as a cultural heritage.
