Fatma Sema Tosyalıoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1968. She graduated from Istanbul Şehremini High School in 1985. Received marbling training from Gülseher Kahraman between 2005-2011; received illumination training from Serap Bostanci between 2006-2007 and from Ümmü Gülsüm Terzi between 2010-2013. Tosyalıoğlu won the second prize in the "The Japanese Year in Turkey" contest organized by Gebze Municipality in 2010, honorable mention in the Illumination Competition held in 2013 and the first prize in the Katı’ Competition held in 2014. The artist continues her katı’ classes with Ayşe Kiraz, which she started takin in 2012.
