Fatma Şan was born in Bursa in 1974. She graduated from Dumlupınar University KMYO Tile Processing Department in 1998, from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Fine Arts Faculty Traditional Turkish Arts Department in 2008, and did her graduate studies at the same department. Şan studied tile with Sitare Turan Bakır, Mehmet Koçer, İsmail Yiğit; and miniature with Taner Alakuş. She participated in many group exhibitions. Şan continues her artistic works at her workshop.
