Hilal Deniz Çakır was born in 1987 in the İznik district of Bursa, Türkiye. She began practicing the art of traditional Turkish tile-making (çini) in 2007. After receiving formal education in ceramic decoration at the İznik Multi-Program High School’s Practical Arts Division, she started working at İznik Gözetir Tile Workshop in 2006, where she continued her studio experience until 2012. In addition to çini, she received training in Islamic calligraphy (hüsn-i hat), Ottoman Turkish, and various traditional arts, enriching her artistic background. Between 2014 and 2023, she completed her undergraduate studies in Art History at Istanbul University. During her studies, she participated in academic programs in Italy (Florence, Arezzo, and Pisa) in 2016 and completed an internship at the Turkish Foundation for Islamic Calligraphy Arts Museum in Istanbul in 2017. She further developed her skills under the mentorship of masters Mesut Tiryaki and Aynur Tiryaki. Among her students is Enise Şağbaner. Currently, she continues her work at her own studio located on Tuzla Street in Darıca, Kocaeli. Deeply connected to the tradition of İznik tiles since childhood, she blends this heritage with her personal designs. Çakır has participated in various national and international exhibitions and events.
