Salim Yaşar was born in Bilecik in 1942. He learned pottery from his father, and worked as a porcelain baker in Germany, where he went in 1969. After 1992, he worked as a potter and trained students in Vietnam for five years. He participated in the Golden Hands Fair organized in 2007 with the partnership of Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Istanbul Beyoğlu Municipality, and received his Ministry of Culture and Tourism Artist Presentation Card. Yaşar worked as a master instructor at Kınık Pottery Development Course organized in 2007 by Bilecik Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism. He is still holds the presidency of Sheikh Edebalı Association.
