Solmaz Selçuk was born in Uşak in 1957. She graduated from Istanbul University Biology Department in 1980. Selçuk did researches on fisheries technologies at Tokyo Fisheries Univeristy in Japan between 1981 and 1983, and completed her master’s degree and Ph.D. at Istanbul University Water Products Faculty. Selçuk stayed at Tokyo as a guest lecturer in 2000, and retired from Marmara University. She attended to training classes on traditional tile, felt and yazmacılık arts at various workshops. Selçuk held various exhibitions and exhibited her tile and wood print works.
