Uğurlu was born in 1972 in Balıkesir. She completed her primary, elementary and high school education in Burhaniye and started studying at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Ceramics and Glass Department in 1989. While at university and also afterwards, she worked at Tüzün Kızılcan's workshop. In 1995, she worked in the design department of Ege Vitrifiye Factory. Uğurlu continues to produce ceramic works in the workshops she founded with Özkan Uğurlu in 1998.
