Karakaya was born in 1972 in Kütahya. In 1986, he started getting trainings in decoration and shaping of tiles from Cemil Karakaya and Abdülkadir Uçaroğlu at a tile production facility. Between 1997 and 2000, he worked in the decoration department alongside Nurullah Özçelik while assuming the responsibility of infrastructure at Marmara Çini, owned by Ismail Yiğit. Karakaya, who started producing framework, decoration and tableware at Yunus Çini Seramik, which he founded in 2000, is the chairman of the company's board of directors.
