Born in 1968 in Urla, Izmir, Artun retired from Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in 2021. Artun, who learned the art of whip making from his masters during the years he worked at the municipality, is the only master in Türkiye who produces whips with his own materials due to the properties of the materials he uses in making whips. Artun, who continues to improve his craftsmanship, is married and has two children.
