Hidayet Aközlü Aldemir was born on November 10, 1967, in Tekirdağ. She graduated from Trakya University, Edirne Vocational School, Department of Restoration in 1986, and completed her studies in Illumination and Miniature Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Marmara University, Department of Traditional Turkish Arts in 1992. In 2021, she received a degree in Cultural Heritage and Tourism from Anadolu University, Open Education Faculty. Beginning her artistic career in illumination, miniature painting, and traditional ornamentation (kalemişi), Aldemir has, since the 1990s, developed a distinctive artistic language by integrating these disciplines with wood art. In 1993, she obtained an instructor certification in manuscript restoration from IRCICA, and between 1992 and 1994 worked at the Süleymaniye Library Manuscript Conservation Pathology Unit. Between 2000 and 2013, she carried out project development and practical applications in the fields of historic artifact restoration, kalemişi decoration, and woodwork. She held solo exhibitions exploring the intersection of wood, illumination, and miniature art at the Beyoğlu Municipality Art Gallery in 2000 and the Tekirdağ Fine Arts Gallery in 2001. From 2013 to 2018, she received training in wood technologies and wood carving at İSMEK, and served as a Master Instructor at İSMEK between 2018 and 2019. Since 2013, she has been producing wood product designs and handcrafted works under the brand therapyworkshop, continuing these activities actively as of 2024. In 2022, Aldemir was recognized as a Wood Carving Artist by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She is a member of the Anatolian Handicrafts Association (ANELSANDER) and has participated in various national and international festivals. Aldemir continues her artistic production in her personal studio in Üsküdar, Istanbul, focusing on wood art, miniature painting, traditional ornamentation, and original designs.
