Sultan Nagihan Okumuş Öyekçin was born in 1979 in İzmir, Turkey. She graduated from Uludağ University, Faculty of Theology, and Anadolu University, Department of Sociology. She is currently employed as a civil servant in a public institution. Okumuş Öyekçin began practicing the art of ebru (traditional Turkish paper marbling) in 1999, studying fabric, wood, and paper techniques under Hülya Küntay. Between 2000 and 2006, she trained at the Fuat Başar Workshop in Küçükayasofya, Istanbul, and received her ebru authorization from Fuat Başar. Continuing her artistic career in İzmir, she established her own workshop in Güzelyalı, where she still conducts her work. In 2006, she held her first solo exhibition. In the following years, she participated in various national and international group exhibitions, conducted ebru workshops, and received awards from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She currently teaches traditional ebru workshops at the İzmir Culture and Art Factory, continuing to blend classical techniques with contemporary approaches.
