Born in Erzincan in 1972, Soy has been studying Islamic calligraphy since 2003 with the master calligrapher Mücahit Kılınçer, and since 2007 with the master calligrapher Yusuf İzzettin Sav. He received ijazah (certification) in the scripts naskh, ruq‘ah, jali diwani, and thuluth from his teachers Kılınçer and Sav. Soy has held numerous solo exhibitions and has participated in various group exhibitions with his works. In 2008, he attended the pre-service orientation and in-service training seminar titled “Traditional Handicrafts on the Verge of Disappearing,” organized by the Şişli İMKB Public Education Center Directorate for master instructor candidates. In 2024, he obtained his Master Instructor Certificate from the Fatih Vocational Training Center. In 2008, Soy was awarded an Artist Identification Card in the field of Islamic calligraphy by the General Directorate of Research and Education of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye. He continues his artistic work in his private studio in Fatih, while also teaching calligraphy at Nişantaşı Teşvikiye Mosque, where he serves as an Imam-Hatip, and at the GSB Başakşehir Youth Center.
