Eda Funda Özkan was born in Üsküdar in 1977. She graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Letters Department of Librarianship in 2000. Özkan started taking marbling classes from Birol Kamil Biçer in 1998, continued with Fuad Başar at Little Hagia Sophia between 2000-2003, also received help from Yılmaz Eneş. In the same years, she started taking illumination classes from Emel Türkmen at Fatih Municipality Mihrimah Sultan Complex and continued at Türkmen’s personal workshop in Fatih afterwards. Özkan received her license from Emel Türkmen in 2007. She started attending the illumination courses at İSMEK in 2004 and graduated in 2008, also participated in the year end exhibitions of İSMEK at Feshane in these years. She won exhibition prize with her work named “The Rose” (Gül) in marbling branch in the 12th State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition in 2003; and with two of her works named “Fatiha” and “Lafza-ı Celal” in the 13th State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition in 2005. In 2006, she won first prize in the competition organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality İSMEK themed “Roses” with her work named “Hilye-i Şerif”. Özkan started taking painting classes at İlhami Atalay Art Workshop in 2009. She participated in many exhibitions both at home and abroad, and many of her works are in private collections. Özkan continues her works at Pembekapı Art Workshop at The Craftsmen Alley at Little Hagia Sophia.
