Gülbün Mesara studied at American Girls’ High School. She participated in his father Prof. A. Süheyl Ünver’s Traditional Turkish Arts seminars, studied with him for many years and received her license in 1972. Mesara worked as an illumination and miniature instructor at the Turkish Women Cultural Association in Ankara between 1976-1980; carried out studies at various libraries and museum in USA between 1980-1985. She participated in many illumination and miniature group exhibitions both at home and abroad; acted as the head of A. Süheyl Ünver Workshop at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine Medical History and Deontology Department between 1987-2008 and trained students. She also did research on Turkish decorative arts. Mesara has books titled “Thin Paper Carving in Turkish Art (Katı’)”, “The Turkish Rose” and “The Bibliography of A. Süheyl Ünver”, which she prepared wih Aykut Kazancıgil and Ahmed Güner Sayar.
