Handan Akbulut was born in Istanbul. After completing her high school education, she started to receive illuminated manuscripts education in Altunizade Cultural Center in 1998. In 2000, she received the Classical Turkish Decorative Arts Course exam opened by the Ministry of Culture in Topkapı Palace and received two years of training. In 2004, she started working at the Sema Embroidery House, where Semih İrteş and Mamure Öz worked together. She participated in numerous integrated exhibitions domestically. Since 2008, she has been working at the Nakkaş Tezyini Arts Center, which operates in the tekke building of Üsküdar Valide-i Atik Islamic Complex. Since 2015, she continues her restoration works in the Yemiş Chamber of Ahmet the 3rd. In 2014, in the Masters of the Future contest opened by the Traditional Arts Association, she won the second prize in the illuminated manuscripts branch, and in 2015, and also in the “7 Hill 7 Art” contest organized by the Classical Arts Foundation and Üsküdar Municipality.
