Melek Akar was born in Üsküdar in 1983. She studies at Istanbul University Sociology Department. Akar took illumination classes from Harun Yılmaz in 2007-2008, ruq’ah and diwani classes from Hüseyin Hüsnü Türkmen at Üsküdar Basic Turkish-Islamic Arts Center. She completed her illumination training she started with Emel Türkmen at the Classical Turkish Arts Foundation in four years, currently continues her illumination studies at Hüseyin-Emel Türkmen Arts House and illuminates her graduation plate. Akar, who published various works, participated in many exhibitions. She won achievement award in the 17^th State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2013, and third prize in the Masters of the Future Competition organized in 2016.
