Nurgül Koyuncu was born in Ordu in 1971. She took Ottoman Turkish classes from Hüseyin Kutlu and Turkish music lessons from Emel Güntekin at the Applied Turkish-Islamic Arts Library. Koyuncu received her illumination license from Şehnaz Özcan at the same library.
