Sema Akpunar was born in Istanbul in 1972. She is a fourth-year student at Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Department of Sociology. She continued her illumination training at History and Islam Research Foundation, which she started with Ayşenur Kadakçı Velioğlu in 2004. She completed the marbling courses at in 2004 and the pattern design courses in 2008 at İSMEK, and completed her illumination training in 2013 at Ayşenur Kadakçı Velioğlu Workshop, which she started at Classical Turkish Arts Foundation in 2008. Akpunar, who participated in various group exhibitions, continues her studies as Velioğlu’s assistant at Classical Turkish Arts Foundation.
