Leyla Varol was born in Ankara in 1969. She started her artistic studies with oil painting, and started taking illumination classes from Derya Önder in 1999. After receiving her license, she gave beginner illumination classes for four years. Varol completed Meral Özcan’s marbling classes in 2003 and gave private classes in this branch. She received tile training from Nurhan Yılmaz in 2004. Varol started taking miniature classes from Berrin Çakin Güç at the Turkish-Islamic Arts Specialization Center in 2010 and continued her training at the project group until 2016. She participated in many group exhibitions both at home and abroad. Her works were deemed worthy of exhibition in marbling branch in 2005 and in miniature branch in 2011 and 2015 in the State Turkish-Islamic Decorative Arts Competition. She won second prize in 2013 and first prize in 2014 in miniature branch in the Masters of the Future Competition.
