Ayşegül Kaya was born in 1964 in Gaziantep. After graduating from Istanbul University Faculty of Law, she worked as a lawyer for many years. Kaya, who took classes from Mehmet Ali Katrancı, has been practicing camaltı (a type of painting done on glass plates) folk art for more than ten years. There are also three books published by Kaya, who is the only camaltı master of Istanbul in the inventory study of "1001 Master of Istanbul". Kaya has participated in many group and personal exhibitions with her work.
