AKKAYA was born in 1969 in Istanbul. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Izmir. She been designing rag dolls professionally for 3 years. She learned making rag dolls on her own, and now she teaches others how to make rag dolls. She also produces artistic clay dolls. She has held workshops in many cities of Turkey and continues to do so.
