Melek Hakan was born in 1962 in Aksaray, Turkey. She graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Business Administration in 1992. After working for 22 years as a civil servant in public institutions, she retired in 2007. Between 2007 and 2009, she studied marbling art (ebru) with Meryem Beğen, Halide Dursun, and İlker Selimler. From 2010 to 2013, she continued her training under Ömer Faruk Dere at the Bağlarbaşı Center for Turkish-Islamic Arts. Since 2013, she has been teaching marbling art at various Public Education Centers. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, festivals, and events, including Suda Düşlenen Taşlar, Eyüp Sultan Volunteers Exhibition, and Ekim Düşlerim. In 2024, following art therapy training, she conducted marbling-based art therapy sessions for the staff of Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty. She is a member of the International Marbling Association and continues her artistic work in her studio located in Beyoğlu, Istanbul.
