Uğur Taşatan was born in Istanbul in 1982. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 2006, and continues his graduate education at Marmara University Institute of Turkic Researches Department of Turkish Arts. Taşatan started working on marbling in 2002, received his license from Sadreddin Özçimi in 2010, and continued his studies with Alparslan Babaoğlu afterwards. He received his marbling teaching and performing license in 2012. He continues his Turkish marbling studies with Alparslan Babaoğlu. Taşatan won exhibition prize in 12th State Turkish Decorative Arts Marbling Competition, and first prize in Marbling with Flower branch in Anaevi Turkish Marbling Competition organized in the memory of Mustafa Düzgünman in 2010. He participated in many group exhibitions, and held his first personal exhibition with the name “Cezbe” at Dolmabahçe Art Gallery in 2017. Taşatan, along with working as a lawyer, gives marbling classes at Applied Turkish Islamic Arts Library, Küçükçekmece Traditional Arts Academy, Keçiören Estergon Castle Turkish Cultural Center. He continues his artistic works at his workshop at Istanbul Arts Market. He is also a member of Ministry of Culture Carriers of Intangible Cultural Heritage Selection Committee. Some of the students he trained are Meryem Uçar and Kübra Karakaya.
