Mehlika Çakan was born in Istanbul in 1982. She is a graduate of Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Department of Economics. Çakan started working on miniature art in 2006, and continues her studies on miniature and marbling. She took miniature classes from Orhan Dağlı and Dilek Yerlikaya, marbling classes from Ayşe Çalış and Fatih Yeşil. She worked as a marbling master instructor at Yunus Emre Intitute Köstence Turkish Cultural Center between 2013-2015. Çakan, who participated in various group exhibitions in miniature and marbling fields, still works as a marbling instructor at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University. Her work titled “Carnation Marbling” was deemed worthy of exhibition in the 16th State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She won encouragement award in Meram Miniature Competition organized by Konya Meram Municipality in 2017.
