Ayşe Koç Uzun was born in Istanbul in 1965. She started her illumination studies with Hülya Erdem at Caferağa Madrassah in 1996 and continued with Emel Türkmen at Fatih Municipality Mihrimah Sultan Complex in 2000. She completed her four-year training at İSMEK in 2004, received her certificate and license. Uzun, who is also a hafiz (a person who has completely memorized the Qur’an), still takes aqidah, tafsir, sufistic reading classes and continues her illumination studies.
