Emine Geçtan was born in Ordu in 1981. She graduated from Uludağ Unviersity Theology Faculty Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge Teaching Department in 2003. Geçtan started taking illumination classes from Suzan Çataloluk in Bursa in 2002, and received illumination training from Semih İrteş, Mamure Öz, Recep Cengiz and Serap Bostancı Tuluk at Topkapı Palace in 2008. She graduated from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Research and Education Illumination Courses and took illumination classes from Emel Türkmen for four years. Geçtan, who participated in various personal and group exhibitions and won prizes in many competitions, continues her illumination studies at Hüseyin-Emel Türkmen Art House.
