Filiz Toktekin was born in Istanbul in 1962. She graduated from Zübeyde Hanım Girls’ Vocational High School Handicrafts and Fashion Department in 1982. Toktekin took painting classes at Kadıköy Zübeyde Hanım Public Education Center between 2000-2004, illumination and khatt classes at Suadiye and Üsküdar Islamic Arts Center and İSMEK between 2008-2013. She received training from Nilüfer Kurfeyz and Selim Sağlam at the Classical Turkish Arts Center at Yıldız Palace Şale Kiosk and attended various private classes. Toktekin participated in many personal and group exhibitions. Sayı Mualla Uysal and Özlem Dursun are some of the students she trained.
