Born in Istanbul in 1981, Sevgi Irteş graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Environmental Engineering in 2004 and completed her master's degree at Istanbul Technical University in 2007. For two years from 2000 on, she received her training in illumination from M. Semih Irteş and Mamure Öz in the traditional Turkish decorative arts course organized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism at the Topkapı Palace. Irteş worked on illumination at Sema Nakkaşhane between 2000 and 2008. Between 2009 and 2012, she received specialist training on illumination and kalemişi from Semih Irteş at the Nakkaş Tezyini Sanatlar Merkezi, which specializes on architectural and book decoration arts at the Üsküdar Valide-i Atik Külliyesi Tekke Building. Irteş, who won the first prize in the branch of kalemişi in the Masters of the Future Competition organized by the Traditional Arts Association in 2015, participated in various group exhibitions. Irteş held illumination courses at Küçükçekmece Municipality Traditional Arts Academy between 2013 and 2022, and she has been giving illumination lessons and doing projects since 2022 at Nakkaş Tezyini Sanatlar Merkezi, where she started working in 2008.
