Güvenç Güven was born in 1958. He does kalem işi, kalem işi on wood and İznik tile works. Güven was in charge of the kalem işi applications in the restoration works of Edirne Selimiye Mosque between 1983-1985 and Istanbul Sultan Ahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque) between 1986-1988, carried out by the General Directorate for Foundations. He trained many students in kalem işi field and has been doing restorations and decorations with his crew since 1988. Güven took khatt classes from Khattat Mahmut Öncü and pattern classes from Tahsin Aykutalp. He opened his own tile workshop in 1995 by taking classes from Faik Kırımlı. In 1998, he made the very special stained glass applications with Turkish patterns and the interior decoration of King Fahd Mosque that was built by the King of Saudi Arabia in Los Angeles/USA. He made kalem işi applications on wood, found only in Mimar Sinan’s works, with his classical and unique style by using the techniques closest to the original after four-hundred years. Güven’s works are in many museums and collections both at home and abroad. He represented Turkey in various international organizations, gave conferences about traditional arts, held many group and personal exhibitions.
